Even though the repainting of these rooms took place in November it has taken me awhile to get the rooms pulled together well enough to take a photo, there are still finishing touches that are needed but they too will take some time.
I was somewhat nervous to add blue into our home because for the most part our home is soft neutral taupes and browns, rather monotone and serene. Adding any colour felt like I was really colouring outside of the lines! After many weeks of reviewing the colours and other decisions that needed to be made, I said to myself – as the old saying goes – “It’s only paint”, and gave the painter the colours. We are very happy with the results, the blue (Benjamin Moore – Templeton Gray – HC 161) has added some life that had been previously lacking, while still providing a calm environment. It will be fun to now build on the new look, choosing some accents that will add layers to cozy the rooms up.
Hope you enjoy seeing the before and afters!
The original wing chair is going in to be recovered in a blue fabric covered with brown & taupe Queen Annes Lace that looks as though it is embroidered and pillows in matching fabric for the beds or sofa. Eventually we will replace the sofa with one that is slightly smaller but for now it will be just fine.
The last area that we repainted (the living room & entry) I will still share with you in another post, I just need the right day with good lighting to take some good photos.
I love the bold new looks, Linda. The rooms look much richer with the new bold shades. jj
