The Beach House

Inspired by the wildness of the unique beach location the “Beach House” captures the spirit of the ocean and surrounding forest with its open design, large windows and use of log post and beam vernacular to frame the beauty of the natural environment.

The minimal 1275 sq. ft, 2 bedroom floor plan is simple and open, featuring a large Kitchen/Living/Nook space centered on a huge river rock fireplace. The 18 foot high space soars under the mono pitch roof capturing magnificent views of the sky and ocean.

Expansive decks on both the ocean side and at the entry provide ease of access and transition from outdoor to indoor. Additional features are a secluded outdoor shower with views of the ocean; positioning of the house to take advantage of the ocean breezes for cooling; cedar shingle siding, prefinished steel roof and prefinished metal window frames for minimal maintenance; use of natural materials; geothermal heating with a high velocity air system; high efficiency plumbing and lighting fixtures; and large overhangs to prevent overheating from the sun and protection from the rain.

The landscape has been completed with indigenous plant material that thrives in this coastal location.
