What an incredibly beautiful and full day we shared with friends on Salt Spring Island this weekend. After what seems like weeks since we have had a sunny day, the clouds disappeared and the sun shone like the good old days of August. That in itself made the day perfect but then we added in time at the water enjoying the boats & boardwalks,
we took in the Farmer’s Market, where every booth was a either a visual or culinary feast for the eyes and taste buds,
and these were the most delicious potato chips we have ever eaten, she starts with a full russet potato, puts it on a stick, spins it with a drill on a device and then ends up with this cool twirl of potato that she then quickly deep fries – you add salt & vinegar ….. the rest you just have to imagine!
With more wandering around town we found many great shops to pop in and out of, (too many photos to post!) this one of Mouat’s famous hardware store and part of the Tree House Cafe was one of my favourites though,
then, we were off to the Mistaken Identity Vineyards where we were attending their First Annual Oyster Fest. What an absolutely perfect way to end the day on Salt Spring – wine, Cortez Island oysters, music and friends – what a good life!
We all left feeling that we just can’t wait to return to Salt Spring, there is so much more to see and do over there. The Mistaken Identity Vineyard will be one of our stopping spots again – their wines are sure worth going back for!
