Today was a fabulous reminder that after the stormy days of winter, the sun will shine again. This past Sunday and Monday were so stormy, the wind howled and the rain pelted down, huge waves crashed onto the beach and the skies were so bleak that it felt as though we were suddenly plunged unprepared right back into the depth of winter. Then today came along with a gorgeous, gentle, orangey peach sunrise – with just a hint of crispness in the air and as the day expanded, the warmth was what you hope for and (expect?) on any good fall day. A day when dressing in a couple of light layers was a good idea…..
These dahlia flowers were a bright spark in the garden a few days before the rain & wind came – now they are a bright spark to also remind us that the sun will always shine again!
The change in weather is also a reminder to start putting our outdoor furniture and decorative embellishments away and to begin the tidying up of the garden, getting it ready for the next season. In a way, I like this reminder – this preparation for the winter – stocking up the pantry, stacking the firewood, harvesting the apples, making a pot of soup……
